Since funding 150+ founders and deploying tens of millions in venture capital, we’ve realized the most important next thing we need to do is to scale ourselves! What this means is that we’re now looking for a Talent Partner - someone that knows the ins and outs of what it takes to run efficient sourcing and vetting processes to help us grow from 10 to 30 this year, and likely more after that!

That’s where you come in. We need a scrappy, organized, and ambitious Talent Partner to put into practice our initial recruiting processes and execute on our aggressive hiring plans. You’ll work directly with Brian and Hsu Ken. If you love finding people, and building great teams, you’ll love this role.

What You'll Do

Grow the team – We’d like to get from a <10 person team to at least 35 in a year with roles across the entire firm (investments, programs, marketing, software, community, finance, and more). Build the processes to support our hiring managers with sourcing, vetting, calls and interviews and make sure we’re bringing on high quality great people.
Outreach, source, and screen – Identify the best candidates from each role. This’ll be unlike most roles you’ve worked with. We’re building a venture firm, but want startup minded people. Figure out where these people hang today, convince them that supporting and building a startup ecosystem is more fun than working at a startup, and help us keep the bar really high. We all want to work with other A+ players.
Own compensation – You’ll be the architect of compensation across a remote team with a diverse array of roles and seniority. Make sure we can hire the best talent in the region while fairly compensating everyone.
Manage our systems, support our hiring managers – Get us all recruiting as a team. Be the owner of the internal ATS, stay on top of hiring managers to make sure we’re hiring and interviewing expediently and efficiently. Up-level all of our interviewing and recruiting skills. Recruiting is a team sport.

What You'll Bring

At least 3 years of experience recruiting, ideally for early stage startups
Passion for helping people transition careers and access growth opportunities
Love for building epic hiring experiences, even for the 95%+ of people we’ll end up passing on.
Experience building and cultivating relationships with candidates across countries and cultures
Strong sense of ownership and bias towards execution
Deeply curious and excited to learn
Systems builder. Strong leaning to make sure things are repeatable and processes are high quality.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Thrives in a fast-paced, often scrappy, sometimes chaotic environment
Meticulously detail-oriented and organized
Previous experience with ATS’s, Linkedin, and other talent sourcing platforms
Having worked at a startup previously is a major plus.

Iterative is a YC style accelerator focused exclusively on Southeast Asia. Iterative invests up to USD $500K in a batch of startups, twice a year. Upon admission, we invest the full amount then work with the founders closely on their idea for 3 months. After 3 months, they present to a select group of investors with the goal of raising a larger round of investment. Since 2020, we’ve funded 70 startups. Our companies have gone on to raise $133M after the program and are now collectively worth $722M.

Hsu Ken Ooi

Hsu Ken was previously the Chief Product Officer of Workmate, an on-demand blue collar staffing platform in Southeast Asia. In 2014, he was VP of Product at Weave (YCS14). In 2009, he started Decide.com an early machine learning company that predicted the future price of consumer goods. It was acquired by eBay in 2013. Hsu Ken has a BS in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Washington.

Brian Ma

Founder, General Partner

Brian was previously the Co-Founder and CEO of Divvy Homes (a16z, GIC). In 2014, he and Elpizo Choi started Weave (YCS14). In 2009, he started Decide.com an early machine learning company that predicted the future price of consumer goods. It was acquired by eBay in 2013. In 2005, he was one of the first PMs at Zillow before they launched. Brian has a BS in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington.
